Chasing the Light 追光

When I gaze at the sky, witnessing the sunrise from the horizon, its radiant beams shatter the darkness and illuminate the heavens, instilling within me a profound sense of hope. Each morning unfolds its own captivating sunrise scene, meticulously painted by God, the divine creator, with a purpose in mind.

At times, the sky may appear somber and burdened, while on other occasions, it exudes a vibrant and joyous aura. Yet, the sun remains a constant presence, unwavering in its existence. For me, I am fervently pursuing the light, the embodiment of hope. It is because I believe that God’s love and mercies are renewed with each passing morning, never faltering in their unwavering presence. As Lamentation 3:22-23 said: “ It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

Once, I was in darkness, but now I am found. I feel reborn, filled with joy from the light. Jesus is my light and He gives me life. As Jesus said in John 8:12: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”If you are searching for hope or answers for your life, ask Him and seek Him.

Lotus Series 爱莲

The lotus is my favorite flower due to its timeless beauty throughout its life cycle. Every time I lay my eyes upon these enchanting blooms, I find myself irresistibly drawn to their allure, spending hours immersed in their presence from every conceivable perspective. The gentle caress of the wind often carries their delightful fragrance, further adding to the sensory experience. Each precious moment spent in the company of lotuses is cherished, for they bring me immense joy and tranquility.

I am drawn not only to the outward beauty of the lotus, but to the quiet grace of its inner meaning. In Chinese culture, it blossoms as a symbol of purity, integrity, and spiritual enlightenment. As the ancient saying,”出淤泥而不染“ (emerge from the mod unstained), the lotus embodied the virtue of remaining noble and untainted amid worldly challenges. It is often associated with the ideals of inner strength, harmony and the pursuit of truth and beauty.

In this series, I seek to express both lotus’s visual grace and its virtuous characters by merging traditional Chinese realistic painting techniques with contemporary splash-ink painting styles.
