Chasing the Light 追光

In this dark world, I wonder if there is hope. I need to see and feel the evidences. I need the light more than ever.

When I look up at the sky, the sun rises from the horizon, the light breaks the darkness and lights up the sky, I feel hopeful. Every morning has it’s own sunrise scene. God, the creator, painted the sky for his purpose. Sometimes, it’s dark and heavy. Sometimes, it’s bright and joyful. But the sun is always there. And for me, I am chasing Him, the light and the hope. Because His love and mercies are new every morning and they never fail. As Lamentation 3:22-23 said: “ It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. The are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

Lotus Series 爱莲

Lotus is my favorite flower because they are beautiful at every stage of their life. Every time when I see them, because of the distance I always spend hours to observe them from all the perspectives I can reach. Sometimes the wind blows the pleasant fragrance, it’s so delightful. I enjoy every second when spend time with them.

This series is dedicated to Lotuses by combining traditional Chinese realistic painting and contemporary splash-ink painting techniques to express my appreciation for their beauties.

Love SF

I have been living in San Francisco over a decade. I consider it as my second hometown. I enjoy walking along Embarcadero, going hiking at the Golden Gate Park and watching sunset at the Presidio. The hills, the fog and the bay make the city so magnificent. I heard people said, “Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. San Francisco is the second.” I not only enjoy the beauty of the city, but also appreciate the culture diversity. However, I have burden on my heart because some issues the city is facing. People are moving out. I pray for the safety and peace in this land. I pray God’s light shines in San Francisco and drives out darkness in our city. As John 1:5 said, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. ”

The paintings in this series are from my walking and hiking sceneries. They show my love and hope for San Francisco. I hope more people turn to God and less people move out.

Light of Hope

Image

At the beginning of this year, I heard a voice that told me a word “Light”during my prayer, which gives me the idea and goal to create this Light of Hope series. It’s a collection of the lights from nature that reminds the presence of God. As James 1:17 said, “ Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

The first piece I painted called” Your light sets me free“, reminds me that once I was in the darkness, but now I am in the light. In 2015, my life changed completely, I lost joy and hope. I had lots of things going on that are too heavy for me to breath. I was looking for joy that I had before. But I couldn’t do it by any efforts I made. Then Jesus found me in 2016, He called me out from the darkness, and bring light to my life. He set me free from the anxiety, weariness and burdens and bring me joy that I never had before. As John 8:12 said:”I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”

The birds in the most of the paintings represent people who are attracted by the Light of Jesus, closer they are flying to the light, more joy and freedom they get.
